Labour want to Regulate, National want to ban

Labour has plans to restrict the opening of new vaping stores, disposable vapes, and even what we call the flavours. This will crush competition. But that’s not as bad as National, who want to ban nicotine vapes entirely.

Regulation won’t fix it

Citizens should not be baby-sat by the government, or hampered by over-regulation or worse, be alienated from society due to their government’s regulations.

We are a close second behind Australia with some of the most restrictive laws around smoking. But we’re a long way off being Smokefree. Australia has shown us exactly how ineffective regulations can be on impacting usage. Despite pioneering plain packaging, having the worlds highest cigarette tax, and banning nicotine vapes; youth smoking has increased six-fold since 2019.

What we’ll do

Young ACT opposes these regulations and believes that in a free and open society, we should be free to choose the products we consume, even if it is bad for us.
Signing this petition will help us show not just Labour, but National too, that we reject their overreach.
